About LighterTorch

LighterTorch is a small, independent site about two everyday tools: flashlights and lighters. It’s written by the LighterTorch Team. We publish buying guides, plain answers to common questions, and safety explainers, such as how many lumens you actually need, why a lighter won’t light, or whether you can take one on a plane.

What we cover

  • Flashlights: everyday carry, camping, long-range, rechargeable and emergency lights, plus the specs behind them (lumens, candela, runtime, water resistance).
  • Lighters: butane and torch lighters, Zippos and their inserts, arc lighters, refilling and repairs.
  • Safety: lighter safety, travel rules, and using gas appliances and fuels correctly.

How we research

We haven’t bench-tested every product we write about, and we don’t pretend to. Our guides compare what manufacturers publish and what independent sources say, and we tell you which is which. In practice that means:

  • Specs come from the maker where possible, such as Fenix, Streamlight, Zippo or BIC, and are linked in the article so you can check them.
  • Rules and safety advice come from the people who set them: the TSA and FAA for air travel, federal standards for lighters, appliance makers for stove repairs, gas utilities for gas leaks.
  • We say when a figure is a manufacturer claim, and we flag common traps like inflated lumen ratings on no-name lights.
  • We update pages when the facts change and show a “Last updated” date. When a newer model replaces one we recommended, we change the recommendation.

Images

Product photos come from the manufacturer and are credited under the image. Some of our scene illustrations are AI-generated. We never use them to show a specific product you could buy.

How we make money

LighterTorch is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy through one of our Amazon links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions don’t decide what we recommend. Details are in our affiliate disclosure, and how we handle data is in our privacy policy.
