Steps to Make a Gas Lighter at Home

Making a gas lighter at home is a science experiment that gives you some kick. It can make your kitchen tasks way easier with a quality way better than the commercial one. Here is how you can I make my gas lighter at home.

Step 1: gather all the required material

The materials required to make a gas lighter at home are all usually available at home, so you won’t have to go through a hassle to collect the tiny parts of a proper gas lighter.

  1. A spare cigarette lighter
  2. Pvc pipe
  3. Bottlecap
  4. Safety pins
  5. Insulation tape
  6. Wire
  7. Glue

Step 2: disassemble a lighter

Take a spare cigarette gas lighter and assemble the upper portion of it. After taking out the button that you press to ignite a flame together with the metallic portion at the side, you’ll be exposed to a metallic part sticking out. Once you remove it, you’ll be able to look at the wire sticking at its side, pull it out so that it’s easily visible.

Remove the insulation of the wire using a wire stripper so that it is visible bare to you. Attach a new wire at its end and another wire at the head of the electronic part. Then cover both the wire connection properly with the tape together.

Step 3: make alterations to the PVC pipe

Now take a PVC pipe and cut a small hole at the upper surface. Make sure it’s big enough to fit in the disassembled part above inside of it. At the same time, it shouldn’t be small enough to damage the part, neither too big for it to fall out of it.

Step 4: Insert the electric parts into the PVC

In the steps of how can I make my gas lighter at home, the next step involved fixing the electric part of the lighter into the PVC diligently. Start inserting the part from the side of the wire in first so that you can see the ends of them sticking out of the other end of the PVC. Once the wires are in, you will finally be able to insert the electric part in; however, most of it will still stick out of the hole to be held but shouldn’t fall out even if you hold it upside down.

Step 5: Connect wires to a safety pin

After inserting the electric part into the PVC, take a safety pin, unclasp it and cut out the spear together with the end; this is the part that fits in the head of the pin. Repeat it with another pin. Now fit the spears into the free ends of the wires that you can see coming out of the PVC pipe. Secure the ends properly by tightly locking the wires with the end of the spear. After doing it with both of the wires, secure the lock by wrapping an insulation tape around.

Step 6: assemble

To assemble the lighter, take two tiny pieces of the double tape to keep the metallic ends of the wire in place. For this, place a piece of tape at the lower end of the PVC pipe and stick one tap on it. Then place the other piece of tape over and layer it up with the other wire to stick them together. Now, to keep them in place, wrap them up with insulation tape. This now makes up for the two metallic ends to create a spark.

Close the other end of the PVC with a bottle cap, and you have a gas stove lighter ready.
